As some of you who have followed Rocketforge for a while will know, I've been attempting to work real time chat into the collaboration story for the non-traditional aerospace community. Some organizations such as the Moon Society have been doing it for years (decades?). I've tried several times to create an IRC channel for us but I never attracted more than a small handful.

Well, a few days ago I found the #space channel on the Freenode.net IRC network. It has over 55 people at this point. Its mostly space science folks but they seem to welcome propulsion people pretty well. And apparently politics comes up enough to warrant creating #space_politics.
